Some poor families can rely on state rations in the form of CLAP, a government-run low-cost distribution program set up by the Maduro government, which also serves as propaganda. To receive the CLAP cardboard box - which contains basic rations such as rice, flour and beans - the recipients must swear allegiance to the socialist ideals of the administration.
